EJ Brady Short Story Competition 2011
The Mallacoota Arts Council invites stories from emerging and established writers of short fiction, in any genre of adult and young adult literature. Now in its seventeenth year, the EJ Brady Short Story competition is named in honour of the poet Edwin James Brady (1869 - 1952), who made Mallacoota his home for more than forty years. In 1909 Brady established a camp for writers and artists, which was visited by his friend and fellow poet Henry Lawson.
There are two categories for entry in the competition: the Major Short Story (under 2500 words), and the Very Short Story (under 700 words). The author of the best Major Short Story will be awarded $1500, with the runner-up receiving $200. The best Very Short Story will win its author $500. And while the competition is open to writers throughout Australia, a special prize, the Tom Donovan Encouragement Award, will be given to a very short story written by a resident of East Gippsland or Bega Valley Shires.
To enter the competition, please complete the postal entry form or online entry form.
You may submit more than one story.
Entry fee is $12 for each Major Short Story and $8 for each Very Short Story entered in the competition.
